A strange thing happened the other day, I went to login to the admin side of my blog to be prompted with “Error: Your password is invalid” (to summarise). Thinking nothing of it, I went ahead and re-typed the password, key-by-key. The same message appeared.
At first I thought it was a flook, so I tried a different browser. Same again. Something wasn’t right here.
Finally, I opted for the “Reset Password” option. I assumed perhaps someone had guessed my password and changed it. So, I went ahead, reset the password, then, same again. Invalid password. Now something really was off. There is no way I had typed a password incorrectly that many times. Especially after changing it and typing it, very carefully!
After waiting a few days, trying the necessary steps again, the issue still hadn’t resolved itself. So I decided I had to do something, search the issue online – it’s the best way to solve a problem, right?
The good news is, I wasn’t alone in a scenario like this. Other users had experienced the same issue, the downside to this… There didn’t seem to be a “fix” for it. It resulted in them re-installed the software. Yikes!
So following the steps listed by others, I’m still none-the-wiser (Though I’m performing back-ups before trying other things, before I completely break something!)
The reality of it is, I might just have to install from scratch and I hope I can upload a back-up! If not, two years of blog posts have gone :(.
Anyway, I felt I should share all with you (that and I just needed to “moan” about it). So if you see any “weird” goings on, you’ll know why!
If anyone is interested, the support forum I read regarding my issue can be found here [Wordpress.org] incase any of you encounter(ed) the same issue I have.
