This week some of you may have noticed this tweet
Now you see, since I stopped using RockMelt one of the things I missed the most about it was the “Status Update” box, you could literally “Tweet From Anywhere”. So I thought to myself, “What if you could do this in Chrome”. Now, whereas most people would search the Chrome Web Store I decided to use my knowledge of the Twitter Dev and Chrome Extensions to create my own application, to be fair, it didn’t take as long as I expected –An hour at most and best of all, I know exactly what is happening with my data. Absolutely nothing!
Now the extension does claim it needs “Access to your tabs and browsing activity” but that is only because it uses the
tab.url (Okay, the codes a little longer than that) to get the Current URL of the page your on.
Anyway, so that’s all that, it’s on Version 1.1 at the moment but I’ll be updating it within the next week. But in the meantime you can check it out here – http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17087195/website/twitter/tweet_box.crx. I’m also heavily debating on whether to create a Facebook update box, following the same system. What do you guys think?
P.S. I’ll also be updating my original Chrome Extension to version 2.0 this week including a revamp in design, adding the new logo and hopefully a notification system.
