Another Year, Another Day
Just a quick update whilst I remember.
I received an email today, from the company/people who manage my domains, I was told to renew or loose basically (I’m sure there was further detail than that though). To be fair, I don’t even think my domain ran out until August! Although I may well be wrong, however, based upon that email, I renewed.
So this means (providing on my hosting company/people), you have me for another year! Until 2012 sometime, I’m not too sure on the exact date. I guess the theme change may have made sense now, a new year, a new theme!
Although the next coming year I really want to try and have to guest posters/writers on here, to keep some content fresh so if you want to become a guest poster/writer then please do contact me. Even if you just copy and paste an existing blog post you’ve already written to extend to another audience, or perhaps you just cannot be bothered to set-up your own blog, a guest post will do perfectly!
Introducing The New Theme
I mentioned previously and very briefly that I was going to be changing themes well as you can see, I did. Why? Because I felt like a change, the old one was old (HTML4), slow loading, too dark, and I just began to grow old of it. To be fair, it wasn’t really “me” anyway. I’m not really into complexity or arty things, I prefer things simple – like this new theme. Yes, I could have just chosen a standard plain theme but I thought this paper effect (only available in certain browsers) added a more blogger style to it, I write down on my blog my thoughts, views and emotions, so the paper symbolises the paper in which I write them. Still with me here?
So anyway, I can admit, some of you might not like the new theme – or for some of you it may not be displayed correctly. Well, I have a fix for that you can change between the old and new themes simply via the bottom of the page. (See images below). Once you’ve changed themes you will keep that theme for 30 days, in which case you will be reverted back to the new one, but, you should be able to change back again. (I had to put an expiry date). If all that was a little too complicated, if you want the old them back then click here (for those who clicked that link and didn’t want the old theme, click here).

Switching from the Old Theme to the New Theme
There’s also a few different methods to sharing, and some new sharing buttons too! These new buttons are not official buttons, however they should load faster than what the old buttons did. Unfortunately I could not find a way to “create your own” like button, so I had to use Facebook’s official button for that one still. There’s also the new horizontal navigation which some of you may have noticed above, I’ve combined some too such as the apps, and contact pages so it’s not as clogged up as it was on the old site.
So what do you think to the new theme? Comments are appreciated!

This Week In Links (06/05/2011)
After seeing a few other sites do “summary’s” I thought I should give it a go using my popular posts and the links from my “Blogroll” on the right, you may remember I’ve done something similar to this in the past.
On Wednesday this week the people over at NewVideo found an “Awesome Upgrade Shooting/Side Scrolling Game!” – And I must say, it’s quite weird, if yet addictive – If it wasn’t 6am, I’d have given it another shot!
Kevin on the other hand seems to have taken a break from his usual ranting over at his blog and taken a happy theme towards his latest blog where he re-discovers vinyl records and his love for them. (For the young ones, think of it as a large CD).
He’d also taken the liberty to give me a large amount of web traffic this week making “Bank Holiday’s” my most popular post! – Taking us right back to 29th April. If you haven’t read that, I would do so now.
Lastly, but by no means least my newest extension Chromeplete received an update this week (Wednesday, again!), taking that to version 0.9.5.1 for those who wish to check that out.
That’s the basic low-down for this week, I’m sure as the weeks go by I shall gain more “Blogrollers” and develop more news, as for now, check out the above. Happy Friday’ing!
I’m Back
So I’m not sure if my “time away” was good or bad, I’m slowly beginning to think bad, I’m sure it allows my mind to wander far too much. Perhaps blogging keeps me somewhat sane, but then again, maybe that’s going a little too far. I’ve seemed to watch a lot more TV than what I usually would too, although, there’s still next-to-no memory left on my Sky Box. I guess that means more TV watching! Though, perhaps I should get my College work finished before that, seeing as my deadline is next week.
However, one of the main reasons I said I was going to stop was because I needed more ideas, some more… Inspiration. I was running out of things to blog about!! I guess I kind of achieved that “goal”, I have 10 sticky notes with blog ideas on, so what, I blog Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday. Thursday’s tend to be a video, so that’s three days a week 3 x 3 = 9, it’s about three weeks of articles. I’ve stumbled across a few videos as well, so I guess it’s all good. I seemed to have been inspired by small things, such as hand cream, making a cup of tea and heck, even watching what everyday people do. I won’t go too much into detail with it all, it might be classed as spoilers.
Whilst I was “away” (not that I actually went anywhere), I did some minor tweaks to the site, I won’t bore you with the details – But small screen users have new share buttons (WooHoo!). There’s a full list of “Updates” here, if any of you are interested. Eh, some might be. If you can see that floating sharebar on the left <—then try “shrinking” your browser window until it disappears – See what happens.
This Week: In Brief (w/c – 07/03/11)
I’ve done a few “behind the scene” changes this week alongside some updates, I thought I should “un-surface” them and tell you what I’ve exactly done this week
First of all I added the “bug report” page which as the name suggest, is the page you go to when you’ve found a bug in anything I’ve made/created/published – Yeah, you get the idea.
Secondly, I launched version 1.3 of my Chrome Tweet extension, with some bug fixes and some minor design tweaks, such as the URLs being in “input boxes” and instantly highlighted upon click – Making it easier to copy!
Thirdly I added the Cornify feature (courtesy of CloudFlare), that really just covers the page in Unicorns when you enter ↑↑↓↓←→←→BA
Fourthly I added a new Lightbox feature, which displays larger images their full size in a box (similar to that awful feature Facebook uses – No they didn’t inspire me).
Fifthly I decided make some changes the “floating sharebar” (that thing on the left) – As you can probably already see it “scrolls” with some cool, nifty animation now. Whilst I was changing this I took a look over my logs and after seeing the results decided to to add support for Internet Explorer (still a work-in-progress), seeing as the bar was hidden from IE users.
To finish off, that’s about it, perhaps I should have called this post “Five Things In Five Days”. If you see anything that needs fixing, or you want something adding then let me know and I’ll see if I can do it. Perhaps you even want something reverting – Such as the sharebar, I’ll see what I can do.
And to finish, I’ll leave you with some Rihanna;
Organisation II
I said I was going to get organised, so I did… Sort of. I’ve cleared up a few categories from the side bar on the right, added drop down menus so it looks even tidier. Not to mention I’ve added the new use of “tags” which you’ll notice in this post, which in return makes it easier to find a specific post. How’s that for organisation?
It doesn’t stop there either, I’ve even planned out the days I’m going to blog and what I’m going to blog on those days. Take a look at this list
Monday – No Blog
Tuesday – No Blog
Wednesday – Blog
Thursday – Random Video (requests?)
Friday – Nothing
Saturday – Vlog
Sunday – Blog/Tech Talk
If that isn’t organisation, I don’t know what is. I feel so neat and tidy now. Just a few more things such as… Share buttons, there is 8 of them and not all of them are needed, so some are most definitely going (maybe some will be replacing them?). So I have another poll for you guys to take part in. As per usual, votes are anonymous so I have no idea who any of you are. Although this poll is a little different, you’re voting to save your favourite share button (A little bit like reality TV eh?), you’re also commenting if you would like a new share button. The comment values should be plugged in for you “Anonymous, [email protected]” Aren’t I nice? The share button(s) with the least votes will be gone by next week, you can also view the results at anytime, so you can check how your button is doing and (maybe?) vote again.
Would you like to use social networks to comment?
- No, I'm fine manually typing in my details (67%, 2 Votes)
- Yes, it makes it so much easier! (33%, 1 Votes)
