Eavesdropping
Did you know you can tell quite a bit about a person from overhearing conversation?
The other day I was on the bus home and the woman behind me was on the phone, I wasn’t too sure if it was here boyfriend/husband or father, but it was definitely a male relation. Now, I was only on the bus for about 10 minutes and the conversation wasn’t even my full bus duration, but in the time she was on the phone, I could already establish, from her part of the conversation alone, that she was:
- Going out for a meal sometime, with the options of a starter and main meal or main meal and dessert. The main meal had to be pre-ordered.
- This Wednesday she’s going to visit a female friend (with the male relation) to watch Twilight Eclipse.
Now if you ask me, that’s pretty darn… Scary, that I could establish most of that from about 5 minutes of dialogue from half the conversation. It’s almost as if we’ve become a nation that just doesn’t give a shit … two hoots as to who knows our business or what we do.
We see all of these crimes (and murders) on the news and programmes such as CrimeWatch then go and broadcast stuff out in the open to the public. Of course, it might not seems like a big deal, but if you were “targeting” that certain person, you’ve got next to all the information you need.
Let’s see, you know she’s going to a dinner, and going to her friends, if you were to stay on long enough you’d also know where she catches the bus from giving you an idea of where she lives. So what’s that, you come Wednesday, wait near the bus stop and blam! This is exactly how crimes can happen.
Perhaps I am reading far too much into everything, I’ve obviously been watching too many episodes of NCIS, but I just thought I’d put my point across, you never know when you’re safe or not.
By this post, I do not endorse crime, stalking or anything mentioned in this post. Although I respect peoples privacy, I felt it correct to alert people about the dangers or public conversations and the worse circumstances which may occur.
