Now this is something my mother will often complain about me for, and fair play to her, I don’t blame her, it is annoying. In fact I can often frustrate myself whilst doing this, because it distracts me! Especially when you have to watch other people. Yes, I’m talking about texting and walking.
In fact, I never though much of it until I saw somebody else doing this the other day, I was looking out of the window and saw a teenage girl walking down the street which her eyes glued to the screen of her digital device. I am not too sure if she was texting on her phone or choosing a song on her iPod, but I know one thing. She wasn’t paying attention to wear she was walking!
I notice the same at the train station too, there’s the odd few people at the station with their eyes focused on a screen – once time, I even noticed a bloke doing something on his digital device whilst walking off the carriage, so I (and you) cannot just stereotype teenagers for it, we all seem to do it now. Why? Personally I think it’s because we’re too addicted to the internet. Think about it yourself, how many times have you checked your social networks, emails or texts whilst out somewhere. – I know I do it quite regularly!
I guess when you’re doing it, you don’t quite notice how much of hindrance it really is, and if you’re a regular reader of Kevin’s blog, you’ll know how much of a hindrance it can be! After all, it took me to watch someone else doing it to realise how much of a pain it really is, and I’m sure if any of my parents are reading this they’ll be sure to agree with me! But I can’t just sit here and moan about people doing it, because I myself have been walking round a supermarket, sending a text or checking a tweet and walked into someone, of course I’ve apologised, but the bottom line of it. I should have been paying attention, yet I still do the same once more.
So what do you think, are you a texter and walker, or are you one of the people that moans about us doing it? Or are we all just too attached to our digital devices to just put them down!
the title should not be mobile teens as that is unfair, it is across thd while spectrum if mobile users. I also text and walk, but try to pick my moments and try to beware of my surroundings. Its not always easy but can be done
Yeah, I can admit is is a little stereotypical, however, I do see mainly teens which do it! Although having said that, as stated above I have seen other “generations” also text and walk.
And to be fair, I had my notes saved as “Mobile Teens”
Dreadful grammar , should read “across the whole spectrum of ” see I can’t even type sitting down
Would you like me to edit the above comment for you?
Yes , possibly a guilty high proportion, but fair play it us across the board, and business men/women speaking loudly is just as annoying. Dont even start me on blue tooth headsets , they look ridiculous
So, you don’t agree with people texting and walking, you don’t want them walking through the street talking loudly. People should just stop communicating
Haha! Oh bluetooth headsets, it’s as if people are talking to themselves!
No I am happy for them to do both, but to consider others around them and not be so self centred and selfish.
Yeah! Fair play.
Looks like I need a “reply” button on the mobile site – whoops!
what can i say you both sound like a couple of old women moaning about the technological age
Ha Ha, its nothing to do with moaning about technology, its about people thinking about others, which is sadly lacking, manners etc, I love my tech
It’s good to have a right ol’ moan anyway
